Hailing originally from New Jersey, Will Anders was brought screaming at the bright age of 9 years old, in 1964, to the sunny shores of Fort Lauderdale, FL – little did he know what paradise awaited him. He remembers the heyday of the Mai-Kai vividly – he and friends would ride their bicycles to the Kai almost daily to play in the gardens. His career in vending would service the Mai-Kai cigarette machines for over 40 years until his retirement. He now carves Tikis and most recently discovered the original molds from the Mai-Kai’s past. He has been given exclusive access to reproduce these molds and continues to fill the Mai-Kai gardens with new treasures every chance he gets.
