Skinny Jimmy & the Stingrays began in 2009 with the goal of blending elements of the retro-inspired sci-fi, secret agent, spaghetti western, exotica and rockabilly genres to create an authentic vintage sound.
Staying true to traditional ’60s surf and hot rod music, the band remains completely instrumental. The current lineup is Skinny Jimmy Stingray on guitar, Chris ‘Savvy’ Savarino on drums, the ‘G-Man’ Garrett Wood on bass, and Dan Eng (aka Doctor Dano) on guitar.
Skinny Jimmy & the Stingrays will release their debut 10-song CD later this year.
The band’s most high-profile performances include opening for the legendary Dick Dale’s 2012 tour in both West Palm Beach and Miami, the South Florida Tattoo Expo in Coral Springs, and The Atomic Grog’s Mai-Kai Mixer at the world famous Mai-Kai restaurant in For Lauderdale.
The quartet is the featured act on the second Saturday of every month at the eclectic Dada restaurant in Delray Beach. They also perform regularly at retro-themed live music clubs such as the 5 Points Lounge in Fort Lauderdale and Mickey’s Bar in Pompano Beach.
